When configuring an SMS action in a workflow you may have noticed you have a few options when selecting the "From Phone Number" as shown below. In this article we will cover the different options you have and how to make sure they are implemented properly.

## Using A Specific Phone Number

Any call tracking numbers in your account will appear as options in the menu from the screenshot above. You can configure this SMS action to always send from one of those numbers by simply selecting the number you want to use.

There is literally nothing fancy here with this option. Just click the phone number if that's the one you want to use every time this text message action runs.

## Contact Manager

Because FunnelFLARE requires all contacts to have a contact manager, we can make sure that any text message sent to a given contact comes from the contact manager's assigned phone number.

In order for this to work most effectively, please make sure you have a call tracking number for each contact manager (user) on your platform who is engaging with contacts.

### How To Assign A Phone Number To A Contact Manager

Once you have purchased the call tracking number(s) you need for each of your contact managers, simply open their profile navigate to the "Preferences" tab, and select the call tracking number you wish to assign them in the "Outbound Dial Number" field. Then click "Save Contact".

Repeat this process for each contact manager you wish to assign a number to:

## Dynamic Term

If you have some other criteria that determines which call tracking number you want to use to sent SMS messages to contacts with, then the Dynamic Term option is the one you want to use.

Here's how to set this up:

1. Create a dynamic field that is a "Text" data type. Whether you create the field on the contact, the organization, etc., is up to you and determined by your use case.
2. Now you need to set the field with the appropriate number. Best thing to do is simply go to Assets > Phone Numbers and copy one of the numbers, then paste it accordingly. Below we simply copied the number directly from the Phone Call Tracking screen.....
... and pasted it directly into the custom field that we created on a contact for this:

Obviously the second step would be very tedious if you have a lot of contacts to edit for this field. Thankfully we don't have to do it this way if you have a large number of contacts/organizations.

The most effective method for setting the field is to use a Contact Segment or an Organization Segment.

Create a segment that gathers all the contacts or organizations you want to assign one of your numbers to, then bulk edit that segment to set the custom field.

In the example below, we have chosen a contact segment from the All Contacts screen and we are bulk editing them to set the phone number in the new custom field. Repeat this process for each segment/call tracking number you have.
